MIGSOLV Hosts Government Minister’s Meeting with Local Businesses

MIGSOLV’s Gatehouse data centre hosted treasury minister, Andrew Jones MP, for a round table discussion with local businesses, delivered by Norfolk Chamber of Commerce.

The minister visited Norfolk on Friday 17th November to hear business’s views ahead of the autumn budget. Topics raised included the impact of business rates, the importance of better broadband, and improving transport infrastructure and skills throughout the region.

“Thank you to the Chamber for arranging and to MIGSOLV for hosting this event.”“It’s important to hear first-hand the views of local businesses. The top message is Norfolk is open for business and has a positive vision.”The Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury

As the regions only world-class commercial data centre, MIGSOLV was keen to discuss poor broadband coverage and suggested an accelerated 5G roll-out as a solution. Businesses around the table highlighted poor connectivity as a barrier to growth, especially for businesses wishing to take advantage of new technology developments.

“We’re honoured to host such an event and show Andrew our facilities.”“Regardless of industry, digital connectivity is going to be ever more vital to businesses going forward, so it was great to see the minister listening so intently to our ambitions and concerns.”David Manning, Managing Director of MIGSOLV

Other areas of discussion included road and rail links, the skills shortage in some sectors and the need to raise Norfolk’s profile to attract talent to the area. The visit included the MP being given a guided tour of MIGSOLV’s world-class data centre.

“We are really pleased to welcome Andrew Jones MP to the Norfolk and give him the opportunity to hear from the local business community.”“It is important that Government Ministers understand the needs of Norfolk businesses and the Chamber will continue to ensure our members views are hear loud and clear in Westminster.”Chris Sargisson, Norfolk Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive
