MIGSOLV Helps Businesses ‘Get GDPR Ready’ at Expo
We were delighted to exhibit at Suffolk Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Get GDPR Ready’ event in Ipswich, on Tuesday 23rd January.
The expo helped Suffolk organisations understand the challenges of new GDPR data protection legislation which becomes a reality from 25th May 2018. Our team were on-hand to chat to businesses about physically housing and protecting their IT and data.
Overall, GDPR will increase consumer’s and individual’s protection. For businesses already using a data centre and compliant with current DPA rules, they may not need to make significant changes. For others, the Suffolk Chamber event was a timely reminder to consider their data security before time runs out.
The well attended seminar included excellent presentations on the details of the new rules from the University of Suffolk, ICO Systems IT and Gotelees solicitors. In future, organisations will have just 72 hours to report any breach in data security and could face fines of up to 4% of turnover for failing to do so.
At MIGSOLV, we’ve already experienced an increase in enquiries from businesses looking to safeguard their data post-GDPR. As a repository for critical and personal data, we’re working with existing clients to ensure they’ve done all they can to keep regulators happy and their customer’s information safe.
Many businesses who hold and process personal data will now need to appoint a Data Protection Officer and conduct new Data Protection Impact Assessments. As such, housing their IT in our Gatehouse data centre is already proving a benefit for customers documenting the low-risk environment it provides.
