MIGSOLV Attends British Chamber of Commerce Annual Conference
On Thursday 8th March, our Managing Director, David Manning was delighted to be invited to the British Chamber of Commerce Annual Conference in London.
The British Chamber represents over 100,000 UK businesses across 54 regional chambers. This year’s conference focused on diversity, international trade and the future of work. Invited as a key member of Norfolk Chamber of Commerce, the event gave David the opportunity to meet other representatives from the tech sector and discuss the Chamber’s priorities for the year ahead.
The event featured business and political leaders from across the spectrum, headlined by presentations from Liam Fox MP, Secretary of State for International Trade, Arlene Foster MLA, Leader of the Democratic Unionist Party and John McDonnell MP, Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer.
As ever, technology was never far from the top of the agenda.
In a rousing speech, the BCC’s Director General, Dr Adam Marshall, called for political parties not to allow Brexit to distract them from critical issues facing business. He stressed the urgent need for investment in transport and digital infrastructure to drive productivity and innovation.
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) was also identified as a major force shaping and transforming the jobs market. With the UK economy heavily skewed towards services, many of those speaking highlighted the need to embrace and lead such technology.
Coinciding with International Women’s Day, the spotlight was also shone on encouraging equality of opportunity, something many in the tech sector know they need to work harder to address.
David would like to thank Norfolk Chamber of Commerce for selecting himself and MIGSOLV to help represent businesses in the East at this important and influential event.
