Why Choose us > For Your Data Centre
Which components of your data centre facility are both fault tolerant and concurrently maintainable?
All of the major elements of plant in our data centre are installed as at least N+1 and are concurrently maintainable. Some elements have higher levels of resilience.
How are cooling zones provisioned to maintain temperatures during maintenance or failures of CRAC/CRAH units?
All of the cooling zones are provisioned in an N+1 arrangement. This means that we can take elements off line for maintenance, or in the event of an emergency, without any impact to the temperatures we maintain.
What are the average and maximum power densities in watts per cabinet?
We don’t quite work like that! Unlike the majority of our competitors, we only charge you for the power that you use. This means that we can be much more flexible on power requirements as we are not reserving power, and charging you for it, power that you may never use.
How often do you load test your generators?
All six of our generators are tested every week. Once a month we test on full load. We keep enough fuel on site to power all six generators at full load for 8 days!
What ‘Tier’ is your data centre?
The short answer is that it isn’t. Tiering of data centres is certified by an American professional services organisation called the Uptime Institute. There are very few ‘certified’ data centres in the world. In fact, there is currently only 1 in the UK. Many data centres will claim to be Tier 3, or Tier 3+, (Tier 3+ doesn’t exist, nor does Tier 3*), or even Tier 4. They are misleading you – we don’t. In our consultancy division we spend a lot of time dealing with problems that our clients suffer because data centres claim to be Tier rated. We prefer to be honest and tell you that we are not certified at a Tier level but that we have significantly greater levels of resilience and redundancy than most.
What certifications do you have, and do you undergo annual audits to maintain them?
We are certified as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 by the BSi, and for ISO 27001 by Bureau Veritas and are inependently audited for PCI/DSS certification. We are also Endorsers in the Consultancy Division and Participants in the Data Centre division of the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centre Efficiency. We are also members of the EU Green Light Programme. All of our certifications are subject to annual audits.
Are support staff available 24/7?
Our Service Desk is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It is always staffed by competent technical staff. We also have a 24 hour facilities team that maintain the data centre – we don’t outsource maintenance and these are all our own staff.
Do you offer ‘Remote Hands and Eyes’?
Yes. And we don’t charge for them! As long as we don’t receive constant or unreasonable requests from our customers we don’t charge for ‘Remote Hands and Eyes’. We believe our customers should expect excellent service from us and we don’t expect them to pay for it!
Can you help us move into the data centre?
Yes. In our Consultancy Division we specialise in the migration of data centres and have moved many thousands of devices over the last decade. We can help you understand what is to be moved, plan for its move, execute the move and manage its installation in the data centre.
Can you help us with installation?
As standard, we offer a free installation service to ensure that your equipment is installed in your racks and operates as efficiently as possible. This has two benefits – one for you and one for us – your equipment is installed with efficiency of operation in mind which will keep your power costs to a minimum and, for us, it keeps our overall power costs down and our emissions to a minimum.
