EBRC, based in Luxembourg offers a complete portfolio of integrated and customisable services including business continuity and hosting. With their business expanding rapidly, a new facility based on the Uptime Institute’s Tier IV classification is being constructed at Kayl in the south-west of Luxembourg.

MigSolv was commissioned to review the data centre design to ensure that it complied with the relevant legislation and proposed standards, detail any areas for improvement, and provide comment on the viability, effectiveness and operational capability of the proposed facility.

A detailed report covering architecture, security, M&E and protection systems, amongst others, was produced and handed to the client.

MigSolv’s Managing Director, Alex Rabbetts commented that the Kayl facility is the “nearest to a Tier IV facility that I have seen in Europe; there are some elements of the US centric tier classification standard that can never be achieved due to differing infrastructure and standards”.

The Design Review report enabled EBRC to ensure that suitable measures were taken to apply appropriate EU standards where it was impossible to meet the US standard. This would ensure that the Tier IV classification was met in all areas that are possible.

After completing the commission, MigSolv was asked to visit the site during its build phase and has consulted on subsequent assignments.
