Migration Solutions was established in 2002 as the only UK consultancy to specialise exclusively in data centre environments.
We recognised that, in spite of the fast-growing role of corporate IT, there was an acute lack of guidance on the specialised environments needed to house it.
We rapidly evolved to become global experts in data centre strategy, reviews, standards and operations. And we ran data centres on behalf of a number of blue chip clients.
In 2010, we acquired The Gatehouse in Norfolk as our own commercial data centre.
The Gatehouse – two purpose-built buildings on a nine-acre site – was originally developed by Norwich Union in the early 1990s as its internal computing facility.
Its Norwich location was perfect. It was not in a flood plain nor an area at risk of terrorism. It was surrounded by plenty of space for us to install high security systems. The area suffers no power shortages and is easy to reach.
But, as a 20-year old facility, it needed major refurbishment to bring it up to the latest standards. We stripped the buildings back to their bare walls and completely redesigned them, investing in the latest, environmentally-efficient equipment and tightest security.
This enabled us to open The Gatehouse in 2011 as a world-class commercial facility in East Anglia providing ultra-secure, high-quality, flexible colocation services. And, in doing so, we changed our name to MIGSOLV.
